AuraLight Dispensary
AuraLight, the new Aurora Dispensary, needed a security provider that could roll with the challenges of the cannabis industry.
After a year of construction, AuraLight Dispensary is ready to show the community how to safely “light their aura” with the power of medical and recreational cannabis. To keep the community’s aura shining bright, the AuraLight team needed eyes that could protect their facility 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year, and were confident that Scientel Solutions (Scientel) could complete the task. To meet the State of Illinois’ requirements, Scientel installed a high-tech security solution throughout the inside of the new facility and outside the surrounding area.
Last year, AuraLight broke ground at its new location, setting the stage to become one of Aurora’s premier dispensaries. As construction continued, the AuraLight team needed an integrator who understood the State of Illinois’ compliance guidelines and specialized in high-tech security system design and installation. KWCC Construction, the lead developer, and AuraLight selected Scientel to design, install, and support the integrated video security and access control system.

THE CHALLENGE
Navigating project deadlines and state-required specifications continued to put a strain on all parties.
Dispensaries must have 24-hour surveillance system that connects to the Illinois State Police through a secured portal. That is only one of the many security specifications required to ensure the safety of Illinois residents and employees.

Changes and delays are bound to happen with any project. However, the Scientel team quickly adjusted to these delays by working with contractors on-site to establish cable runs and determine mounting placements.
SCIENTEL’S SOLUTION
By integrating multiple technology solutions, the Scientel team met all the security requirements for the new dispensary.
To meet the State of Illinois’ strict regulations, Scientel’s security team created a design that provided the most optimal situational awareness for the facility. To meet the stringent State-mandated specifications, Scientel determined that Illustra cameras would be the best fit as they are cost-effective and provide excellent picture quality.
With over 40 cameras viewing all indoor areas of the facility and outdoor grounds, Scientel integrated the Illustra cameras with exacqVision’s Network Video Recorder (NVR) technology. Illustra technology integrates seamlessly with exacqVision’s video management system and Kantech’s access control platform. Scientel’s solution provides the functionality, backup storage, and customization needed to exceed the State’s requirements.

The Scientel security team knew Kantech’s access control software and hardware technology would provide true peace of mind to the AuraLight team. Kantech’s technology safeguards building access for every door in the facility, keeping the dispensary compliant with state regulations. Kantech’s Entrapass software is full of robust features that provide customizations to help control the flow of the building.
Kantech, exacqVision, & Illustra cameras are purpose-built to provide root (through software) integration. With each integrated piece of technology working in tandem, the AuraLight team can create alerts, adjust video settings, and build custom functionalities. These technologies also provide a true single pane of glass to enhance the end users’ experience.
After completing the installation, Scientel’s security engineers trained the AuraLight team on their new security platform. AuraLight passed its inspection after Scientel met all the state’s video and access security requirements.
